Summer's almost here....Our ABC countdown begins!

The end is near!! I can hardly believe it. And I can hardly wait! Spring Break gave me little sneak peak of summer and let me tell you...I am pumped for it!

This is my project I started during Spring Break that I plan on finishing this summer...

I love crafts. But I have SO MUCH STUFF....and since we live in a 1 bedroom apartment, all of my craft supplies have been slowly taking over our bedroom. Over spring break I set up a desk, and started getting it all organized. It is nowhere near done...but at least the floor is visible now :) I'm excited to work on it this summer! 

By the way....for those of you who are into crafts and in need of a good storage solution for your ribbon, I found the PERFECT ribbon holder! My mom and sisters and I made these boxes awhile ago...they are made out of paint sticks! I discovered that they are the perfect size to store ribbon...AND they have a slit for the ribbon to poke through! You can find the tutorial HERE.

Okay....back to school. The last 26 days of school my team and I do an ABC countdown. LOVE IT! Here's what we've done so far...

A: Art Day: 

• We did some watercolor painting.

B: Bread and Butter Day

• We talked about where bread comes from and how it's made, and then we made our own bread! 

This was so stinkin' fun! I pre-measured all of the ingredients for the bread and had the kids help me dump them into a gallon sized bag. We closed the bags then they got to help mix everything by smooshing the bag around until the ingredients were completely mixed. We also made butter by putting heavy whipping cream and a little bit of salt in a jar and then took turns shaking it. So fun! They loved eating it best of all! :) I kept hearing things like "this is the best bread in the whole world!!" We ate it while we watched a video of The Little Red Hen...and several kids made the connection between the things the Red Hen was doing and what we had done to make our bread. 

C: Come Celebrate with Us!

• We had our 1st grade program! Each 1st grade class performed a reader's theater and we sang a few friendship songs. The program had its little hiccups...but luckily when you are 6 or 7 years old it's still really cute when you mess up :) The parents loved it...they did a cute job!
